At the BC Thespian Festival students can perform live to an audience and adjudicator in all three categories but they can only enter each category once!
The following categories can be pre-filmed (following our filming guidelines - coming soon) and submitted in advance:
In each of the 6 categories above students will be conducting their performances with no tech, meaning that students will be wearing theatrical black, have no sets. props or lighting design. The purpose of the Performance Thespys is to showcase students performance abilities only. There are also strict time limits to be adhered to, so please carefully review the guidelines in the BLUE BOXES ABOVE - we have a fine print and a coles notes version.
In each category students that qualify (with a superior performance score on the adjudicated rubric) will be given the opportunity to represent B.C in the International Thespians Festival (Virtual ITF) in June.
Students who score an average of Superior on the adjudicated rubric assessments will receive Blue Ribbons and students who score an average of Outstanding on the adjudicated rubric assessments will receive Yellow Ribbons.
Please note the guidelines also include tech events and film events that we will not be holding for the 2021 Festival but are hoping to do so in the future.
